Hi, I'MÂ Kim
I’m a proud wife and momma whose passion is to walk beside Christian parents of LGBTQ+ children in the middle of the messes of our God-gifted lives.
I'd love to help you begin!Pride & Promises to supports Christian parents of LGBTQ+ kids who want to hold onto their faith while wholeheartedly loving their LGBTQ+ child.
Â
Through biblical guidance, practical resources, and compassionate support, I help parents find clarity to stay connected to their child and follow Jesus with grace and truth.
Â
I'm a mom who has walked this road myself, and I help families navigate the questions, fears, faith tensons that arise when a child comes out.Â
My sweet spot has always been in coaching and mentoring young women, moms, wives and families, offering encouragement and guidance through everyday life and its challenges. Â
Driven by a profound dedication to my family, a gratitude for people, and a love for the one-anothers, my heart is to encourage other families in navigating the tangled up circumstances that don’t have linear solutions. We haven’t done it perfectly…you'll find my imperfections as you read the blogs.
My favorite people are my husband, Pete, our two daughters and their husbands, and our son...all who make our family better. Beyond treasuring my family, I’m a curriculum and freelance writer, ministry volunteer, fellow encourager and coffee lover. I love summer walks and winter fires.
Help me startWhen our son revealed his deeply held secret that he was gay, it left us reeling for a minute.Â
When our son came out as gay, our church offered minimal support for Christian families with LGBTQ+ children. After years of isolation, I created resources to help faith-based families build relationships with their LGBTQ+ kids.
Let me tell you,
I am a better person because of it.
Building a relationship with your LGBTQ+ child takes intentional work. We've navigated difficult conversations about faith and identity, nearly lost our son's trust, and are still discovering the spiritual trauma he experienced. Understanding his pain has helped us see why the first years were so difficult for our family.
We're here to help you avoid common mistakes Christian parents make when their child comes out. Through our experience supporting LGBTQ+ families, we'll share practical guidance on maintaining your faith while creating a safe, loving home—and help you recognize warning signs of family estrangement before it's too late.
how do i start?
We don’t presume to have all the answers,
...but we've learned how Christian parents can hold to biblical sexuality while maintaining close, loving relationships with their LGBTQ+ children.
Whether your gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender child still shares your faith or has walked away from the church, we offer guidance for Christian parents who want to love well without compromising their beliefs.
Inviting parents and children to the table with open hearts, my deepest desire is to safeguard relationships by bridging the gaps between understanding Biblical promises, gospel love and the LGBTQ+ community.
begin with thisWith a passion for the Word,
I use Scripture as a foundation for truth and love. We use the bible not as a weapon that drives our children away, but as our source of encouragement to journey well together.
My approach focuses on faithful biblical interpretation while preserving your relationship with your LGBTQ+ child. Whether you're wrestling with specific Bible passages about same-sex relationships, wondering how to have hard conversations without causing harm, or trying to balance your church's expectations with loving your child well, I'm here to walk alongside you.
God's Word was written for all of us—including your gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender child—and there's a way to honor biblical teaching on sexuality while keeping your family intact.
